On October 29, 2022, at the Balok Beach in Kuantan, Pahang, a Mangrove Tree Planting Program was held with the local community jointly organized by Lions Clubs Indera Mahkota, OCBC Bank and also participated by Widad Education staffs and students. This program was held as one of the efforts to preserve and conserve mangrove areas to increase the biodiversity of the marine ecosystem, while also helping to absorb the increasing carbon emissions resulting from human activities. Conservation of mangrove areas is important because these areas are natural buffer zones to reduce or prevent coastal erosion. In addition, mangrove trees can also absorb four times more carbon than rainforest trees. Programs like this help to actively involve volunteers and the local community in activities related to environmental preservation in addition to strengthening relationships among themselves.
